Windermere Marathon FAQ

  • What is the age limit?
    Participants must be aged 18 or over on the day of the event.
  • How tough is the route?
    The course is hilly in parts with an elevation of approximately +600m. This is the perfect road marathon for runners looking for a challenge and those who want to enjoy the scenic landscapes.
  • What is the elevation profile?
    The course elevation is approximately +600m. The course will broadly remain the same for 2025 with new start and finish locations. You can view the original route gpx file here on the website.
  • What is included in my entry fee?
    All finishers receive a medal and other goodies when they cross the finish line.
  • Where does the race start/finish?
    The race will start and finish in Windermere, the exact start location will be confirmed in due course. The race will finish at Brockhole in Windermere.
  • How many water stations will there be on the route?
    There will be 7 drink stations along the route with toilets at all drink stations. 4 of the drink stations will have VOOM Hydrate Smart Electrolyte drink as well as water.
  • Is there a bag drop or any baggage transport?
    Baggage storage facilities will be available on the day, more information will be available for entrants closer to the time.
  • When will I receive my race pack?
    Race packs are posted to entrants. If you secured your entry more than 4 weeks before the event date, your race number and timing chip should start to arrive 2 weeks before. If you entered 3 weeks before, it will arrive 1 week prior. If you secured your entry with in the last 2 weeks, it should arrive 5 days before (by the Wednesday of the event week). If you secure your place after the cut off date for postage, as detailed on the entry form, you will need to collect your run number and timing chip from our information point on the weekend of the event.
  • When will I get my results?
    Results will be published on the Windermere Marathon website shortly after the event.
  • Who is organising the event?
    The event is organised and delivered by The Great Run Company, home of the Great North Run and other Great Run series events across the UK. The 2025 Windermere Marathon will finish at Brockhole on Windermere where runners can celebrate with finishers of the Great North Swim.
  • Why am I redirected to LDT when entering?
    When you enter the Windermere Marathon, your entry information and payment is processed by Let’s Do This and passed securely to us. Your bank statement will show Let’s Do This against your event entry and you will receive a booking confirmation email from Let’s Do This, in addition to your usual entry confirmation email from us. All pre-event advice and information will arrive in your inbox from The Great Run Company.
  • Can I defer my entry?
    Windermere Marathon entries are non-transferable into subsequent years events and we do not offer a deferment policy. See our policy here. We offer pregnant Women a deferral for up to 2 years. Please get in touch with us by email here so we can help.
